Key Cabin Policies and Guidelines

Here are the documents you should review before your stay:

Staying in Nature: What to Expect in a Country Cabin

My cabins sit deep in the Brown County woods, where nature is all around. You’ll likely see deer, turkeys, raccoons, bats, and the occasional opossum or mouse—especially in colder months.

Insects like bees, ticks, spiders, ladybugs, and wood roaches may also show up depending on the season. While this is a normal part of staying in the forest, I do everything I can to minimize disruptions from wildlife.

  • I schedule regular treatments from a licensed pest control expert.
  • I use pet-safe and kid-friendly methods that protect kitchen and living areas.
  • I place discreet, secured traps in closets or cabinets.
  • I recommend keeping all doors closed when you’re not using them.
  • Store food—especially leftovers and snacks—in the fridge to avoid attracting pests.
  • Always throw trash into the bins and close the lids tightly.

Even with every prevention step in place, occasional critter encounters can still happen. If something comes up, I’ll respond quickly and do what I can to fix it. That said, because you’re staying in a natural setting, I don’t offer refunds for typical wildlife activity.

If bugs or forest animals really make you uncomfortable, this might not be the ideal kind of getaway for you.
