PLAN WITH CONFIDENCE
Cabin Rental Rules
Whether you’re relaxing at the 1891 Schoolhouse Inn or unwinding at Helmsburg Homestead, I want your stay in Brown County to be both safe and memorable. While the vacation rentals sit tucked away in peaceful, rural settings, that doesn’t mean “anything goes.” You’re staying in a thoughtfully cared-for home and sharing land with full-time residents.
To protect your safety—and out of respect for our neighbors and the surrounding environment—please follow the rules below at all My Brown County Vacation rental properties:
- Do not wash food waste down the kitchen sink.
- We are on a septic system, please only flush toliet paper.
- Children must be supervised at all times.
- Pets are only allowed at 1891 Schoolhouse Inn with prior approval
- No pets allowed at Helmsburg Homestead
- No guns, firearms, fireworks or explosives—no exceptions.
- No smoking or vaping.
- No parties or events.
- Be mindful of noise and activity levels—even in quiet, country settings
- Home sleeps a maximum of 4 people.
This is not an exhaustive list. Just because something isn’t listed doesn’t mean it’s permitted. If you wouldn’t do it in your own home, backyard, or neighborhood, we ask that you don’t do it here.
Your respect helps keep these special places peaceful, safe, and welcoming—for you and for all future guests.
Swim Spa Safety Guidelines
The Swim Spa at Helmsburg Homestead is a wonderful amenity designed for relaxation and enjoyment, but safety and care are essential to ensure it remains a positive part of your stay. By staying vigilant and adhering to these rules, you can enjoy this feature responsibly and make lasting memories at Helmsburg Homestead. Safety is a top priority at Helmsburg Homestead, particularly when it comes to enjoying the Swim Spa.
Children: Always supervise children closely around the Swim Spa. It is not a substitute for a swimming pool, and its warm water and jets require careful attention to ensure their safety. We recommend setting clear rules, such as no running on the deck, NO DIVING, and always having an adult present. While this feature offers a relaxing and fun experience for guests, we urge vigilance when children are near or using the spa.
Pregnant Guests or Those Taking Medications: If you are pregnant, have medical conditions, or are taking medications, consult your doctor before using the Swim Spa. Prolonged exposure to warm water can raise body temperature and may not be suitable for everyone.
Of course, the same practical safety tips apply to the hot tub at the 1891 Schoolhouse Inn.
