These rules apply to all guests at both the 1891 Schoolhouse Inn and Helmsburg Homestead. Your cooperation keeps these properties special for everyone.

This is not an exhaustive list. Just because something isn't listed doesn't mean it's permitted. If you wouldn't do it in your own home, backyard, or neighborhood, we ask that you don't do it here.

  1. 1 Do not wash food waste down the kitchen sink.
  2. 2 We are on a septic system — please only flush toilet paper.
  3. 3 Children must be supervised at all times.
  4. 4 Pets are only allowed at 1891 Schoolhouse Inn with prior approval.
  5. 5 No pets allowed at Helmsburg Homestead.
  6. 6 No guns, firearms, fireworks or explosives — no exceptions.
  7. 7 No smoking or vaping.
  8. 8 No parties or events.
  9. 9 Be mindful of noise and activity levels — even in quiet, country settings.
  10. 10 Home sleeps a maximum of 4 people.

The Swim Spa at Helmsburg Homestead is a wonderful amenity designed for relaxation and enjoyment, but safety and care are essential to ensure it remains a positive part of your stay. By staying vigilant and adhering to these rules, you can enjoy this feature responsibly and make lasting memories.

Children: Always supervise children closely around the Swim Spa. It is not a substitute for a swimming pool, and its warm water and jets require careful attention. No running on the deck, NO DIVING, and always have an adult present.

Pregnant Guests or Those Taking Medications: Consult your doctor before using the Swim Spa. Prolonged exposure to warm water can raise body temperature and may not be suitable for everyone.
